Patrizia Marti is Assistant Professor and senior researcher at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Siena where she teaches Human Computer Interaction and Design of Learning Technologies. Her academic experience includes teaching from 1997 to 2001 in Cognitive Ergonomics at the Industrial Design Department, Polytechnic, Milan, Italy, in 2000 in Systems and Communication Technologies at the Communication Science Department of IULM, Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione, Milano, in 2001 Foundations of Interactive Media at the Department of Computer Science, University of Limerick, Ireland, from 2006 to 2008 Human-Computer Interaction and Design of Technological Environments for Communication, University of Sassari.
Her post doctoral experience includes fellowships at the Center for Research in Language, University of California San Diego, USA in 1990 and 1995, and a Post doc at the Engineering Dept, University of Siena from 1999 until 2001.
From November 2009 until April 2010 she spent her sabbatical leave at TU/e, Technische Universiteit Eindhoven.
She has a longstanding track record of research in interaction design and the ethnographic study of social practice to inform the design of information systems, in participatory design and evaluation with end users. She has been a principal researcher on a number of European and national funded projects in the areas of Ubiquitous Computing, educational technologies, robotics, health care, Air Traffic Management. Her current research interests include aesthetics of interaction, intentional and expressive interaction, exploration of smart materials.
She has a long experience in fund raising at national and European level and acted as reviewer of European projects in the EU Future and Emergent Technology programmes: Intelligent Information Interfaces (I3) (FPV); Disappearing Computing and FET Open Scheme (FPVI).
